I'm taking AP Computer Science at my school, at we've started working with a program called Alice. My teacher said it is to get us ready for when we start actually working with Java. It's pretty neat: there's a bunch of instances, they're called, of people, buildings, animals, etc. And there are also worlds to put them in, including grass and ocean. For example, today I decided to put a pyramid on the moon with a cowboy. Great fun, great fun.

We give them commands, and with the living things, there's so much you can make them do, if you know how to do it. You can make each separate hand move, or even their hair can turn in different directions or grow 2X its size by itself. You just have to know what you are doing and how to work it. Luckily, if I get stuck we do have textbooks, xD

So our last lesson of the day was to make a dragon flap its wings. After I made its head 2X the size to be super large (cuz he just looked cooler that way, that's why!) we learned how to program it so the wings could flap up, then down, but both the left and right wing at the same time. I even went further, and made it so after flapping a couple times, he lifted into the air. :) Because that's what dragons do, right?

So our assignment this weekend is to program two characters having a conversation of one telling the other a joke. I already have a joke I'm super excited to use, but are there any amazing ones that you can come up with? I'm definitely willing to hear!

DUH DUH DUNNNN.

So, I am going to be a senior in high school. Twelfth grade. My last year. In two days.

Well, I've kind of been a senior already, all summer. But now the time is actually here where I am learning again, applying for college, looking for scholarships like crazy, and going to events like football games knowing this may be the last time I do that in high school.

When everyone reaches senior year, do they appreciate it and just have fun, going all out because it's their last time in high school? Or does everyone go through every day with that small, nagging thought in the back of their head: "There's only ____ more days till I may never see these people again." For me, that thought is both a mixture of sadness and relief. I am going to miss my friends and teachers I've become close to like crazy! But at the same time, I'm sick of some of the typical people and annoying drama that I'm sure goes down at every high school across America, across the world, even.

Hmm...maybe I'll make my self a List TO DO for Senior Year. I'm just worried that once it's here, it's written in stone (or pixelized on the interwebs) and not completing everything means in 10 years I can look back and go "WHHYYY?"

...

What the hell? xD

List TO DO for Senior Year

go to more football games
continue straight A's
submit a script for the One Acts
win more scholarships
stay off of Tumblr and Youtube completely on weekdays
okay, so actually just try to go on above said websites less on weekdays
play guitar in front of people for once, and not be afraid to sing
take photos for yearbook at pep rally
finish the novel's story for NaNoWriMo
go to prom with a date ;)
go to the beach with friends
do something spontaneous
get over my fear of driving fast
make some new friends, even if it is senior year
NO REGRETS this year :)

so I hate technical support...

...or does it just hate me. A lot. Because I don't think that it is the norm to have to call tech support 7 times. Actually, it should have only been 5 times. But two times my phone decided to disconnect. I don't know, maybe my cell just thought it was being funny. Hahaha, no. Phones have a terrible sense of humor.

This call had to do with transferring my iTunes library from my old laptop to my new one. If you were expecting it to be easy, it definitely wasn't. If you were expecting it to be hard, it definitely had a difficult element to it. If you expected the process to at least be painless mentally, it's not. Let's just say, I cried at least once. Okay, so maybe I had some other pent up frustration due to other goings on in my life. But this iTunes fiasco didn't make things better.

I'm sure it can't be this complicated for everyone. Maybe it's just me, again?

Luckily, the last call I had worked! Except the woman said she couldn't do much to help because I was over the time period for my complimentary support phone calls. All she could do was tell me a way she said would involve more "manual labor" on my part in finding all the songs that went missing. So she gave me one option involving preferences in iTunes, then told me how I could possibly get support to find my purchased songs.

I had been working at this for over 3 hours. You could say I was a little agitated. So I said thanks, we hung up, and I wanted to hit something. Hard. I tried to breathe in and out deeply, and then went to my preferences to try out her first idea in locating songs. Not wanting to complicate things with the details, it worked.

And when I clicked that first song in my iTunes, "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles, and the song actually came out over the speakers, I was so happy. SO so very happy. And tired. But I just felt like finally it all worked out, like it was worth it. And everything was there. And it is an exact replica of my old iTunes.

So I take back my mean thoughts, and I hope that woman, support from my 7th call (not my 7th person, because in my other calls I kept getting transfered too...), sleeps well tonight. I am so grateful.

So, I guess 7th times the charm? Either way, I don't anticipate getting a new computer to add programs to again any time soon :)

So, I've had my old laptop for around 4-5 years. I love that laptop - it's been really great to me and has worked well after so long. But there have been some problems, of course, and also it happens to weigh over 8 pounds. Not very easy to carry places, which is kind of the point of a laptop.

So, I bought a new one, and it only weighs around 4.5 lbs! I paid half and my parents paid half. Same brand, HP, because I really love and trust their computers. Also, I just can't afford a MacBook Pro xD But my new laptop has been called the "macbook of pc's" if that's possible :)

So, I got the HP Pavilion dm4, if you feel like looking it up. It looks really great and feels really great to use. I'm so excited! Now the only difficulty is to transfer all my files, all my programs, all my music...YIKES. But it is worth it :D

Plus, it has 4GB ram and 500GB of hard drive space. :D:D:D

I have the feeling where the days are just going to drag on and on, and all of a sudden, I will have a crazy busy day and stuff I should have remembered to do, and everything will be happening so fast. Like I need to look into colleges and driving, and for some reason I remember this at the last minute, after surfing youtube for hours.

Update on June 26: Hihi, since I don't have much to report except that I almost went to a bonfire on Friday, but we ended up getting lost on our way and just drove back home (the car ride was kind of an adventure XD) I shall post this short story that I just wrote. I can explain it later if you don't fully understand it and wish to :)

Her bulletin board looked almost as it had when her mother had taken it out of the plastic packaging: bare, the corkboard still fresh without any new holes made by differently colored pins. It had a thick black frame to attach it to the wall and hold the corkboard in place. It even came with pins, little round colored balls stuck to the end of the sharp objects, to stick notes and other memorabilia to the wall. They clustered in the bottom left corner, unnecessary for the lack of anything worth bulletining. The board just waited on her wall, waited to be filled and turned into something worthwhile, instead of taking up space so the walls wouldn’t look so bare. Sometimes her mother would come in, baring clean laundry to be put away, and then look up at the board and sigh. She thought she had been doing something nice when she bought it, but ah well, at least it had been on sale. So there it hung, unattended and unnoticed, gathering dust on the top of the frame.

Then one day, there was something there: a strip of photos, four in total, from one of those photo booths at malls or amusement parks. It was her, smiling, then looking serious, then making a face, and then in mid-laugh. It was also someone else with her, almost an exact replica of herself, but older by a couple years, a bit more tired around the edges. It was stuck on the bulletin board almost exactly dead center, noteworthy and immediate, something that could draw a person’s eye to it by just scanning the room. When the room was cluttered up with junk and school work and an unmade bed fitted against a wall, the board looked clean and important, those small photos surveying the room in a giddy manner.

Then one day, the room was cleaned, the bed was made, the trashcan was full, and the strip of photos had been torn from its mantle. All that remained, hanging on a pin like a hook, was a key. Underneath it was a sticky note, with messy handwriting scrawled precariously. It may have been your decision, but now it’s mine. I won’t need this anymore. Her school backpack was gone from the floor. Her toothbrush and toothpaste left their spot on the sink in the bathroom. She hadn’t been able to lock the door of the house behind her.

When her mother came home from work and only had to turn the doorknob, she raced upstairs to her daughter’s room. The first thing she took in was the absence of the photograph strip on the bulletin board. The second thing she took in was what took its place. And the third thing she did was cry, a helpless cry that couldn’t bear to be trapped inside her frame any longer. She cursed confiscating her daughter’s phone only days earlier. She wept to her younger, stupid self.

Then silently, she grasped the key from the board, walked with heavy footsteps downstairs, stepped out the door, and locked it. She stood hunched over for an eternity. Her watch screen blinked, a minute passed. The sticky note on the bulletin board fluttered down to the bedroom floor, and the corkboard wasteland stood empty once again.

Another Update on June 26 (a couple hours later): I sat myself down and finally finished my online course to get a driving permit! Yes! Only 4 errors in the final test too, haha. So now I can finally start learning to drive behind the wheel. This is gonna be a good summer :D

Happy summer! I am officially out of school! That also means that I am technically now a senior (12th grade) in high school and graduating in just one year. D: So as much as I have all this new-found free time, I also have to really start thinking about the future. Eek!

Anyway, I was going to go out to eat with my friend on the penultimate day of school, but then she couldn't anymore, and I had nowhere to go, and we only had a half day. So I was stuck walking home by myself, which I was kind of annoyed about. But it was all good, because I just got to enjoy the outdoors and the sunshine, listen to my iPod, and just generally be happy. You know? So I took out my camera when I saw this beautiful tree (click for larger picture):

And from there, I was inspired to create this layout. I was honestly sick of my old layout (you probably remember it, since it was up for 6 freaking months x_x ). I love the macro-focus on my camera, and I love how the picture turned out. FINALLY INSPIRED! Then, when I started making it today, I knew I needed the perfect font to tie it together. I was going for a more script-y one, but then 'Jellyka Castle's Queen' jumped out at me. It makes me feel like a faerie, haha. :) I also wanted something to make the whole layout flow, and the green lines fit nicely. I really wanted the line to be a bit more behind the titles, almost like a green strikethrough, but I feel good about how it looks. I also feel good that I finally put some more time into Exhilaration, because I have felt so bad about just leaving my site sitting here on the interwebs all lonesome. :(

Oh yeah, can you guess the song lyrics on the header image without checking out the layout states on my website info page? If you can, you get a virtual cookie! xD Here's a hint: I am completely addicted to the musical "Spring Awakening" and have been since late April (which was kind of stupid because it took time away from studying for AP tests, in calculus and US history). I am so mad that I fell in love with the musical over 2 years after the original cast left Broadway.

So yes, I feel like this is going to be a good summer. There's lots that I want to accomplish. And I hope that you can accomplish everything that you set your mind to as well. :)

A question: What is your favorite song of the moment? And furthermore, what do you think will be the big song of the summer (doesn't have to be your favorite)?

Happy summer! I am officially out of school! That also means that I am technically now a senior (12th grade) in high school and graduating in just one year. So as much as I have all this new-found free time, I also have to really start thinking about the future. Eek!

Anyway, I was going to go out to eat with my friend on the penultimate day of school, but then she couldn’t anymore, and I had nowhere to go, and we only had a half day.

I was honestly sick of my old layout (you probably remember it, since it was up for 6 freaking months ). I love the macro-focus on my camera, and I love how the picture turned out. FINALLY INSPIRED! Then, when I started making it today, I knew I needed the perfect font to tie it together. I was going for a more script-y one, but then ‘Jellyka Castle’s Queen’ jumped out at me. It makes me feel like a faerie, haha. I also wanted something to make the whole layout flow, and the green lines fit nicely. I really wanted the line to be a bit more behind the titles, almost like a green strikethrough, but I feel good about how it looks. I also feel good that I finally put some more time into Exhilaration, because I have felt so bad about just leaving my site sitting here on the interwebs all lonesome.

Thanks for all of your encouraging comments. I read all of them and you all made me smile. It feels good to know that there is this community of people out here who do support others and encourage them. It's like, even though we are all over the world, we are still connected. :) Right now I am in the process of replying to comments, but if you commented on my last blog and don't receive a comment back from me, that is because your site and my computer don't get along, if you get what I'm saying.

So, my awesome secret project that I have been trying to work on for months is officially open! Not much to it yet but I will update more all the time: fliptheworld.org! Yes, I got a domain! It was free from the NameCheap Holiday contest back last December ahaha. I will post pictures and fun stuff on it to be a more laid back type blog. Let me know what you think. I decided to use tumblr for it because it's a very easy and fast way to upload pictures directly from my phone. Also, yes I get that there is a double meaning to the name, but read my about page because that explains what I was going for XD

So, being president of my school's reinstated Literary Magazine (we are working on our fist issue) has gotten me a bit out of the creativity rut, and my friend also told me I had to submit something to the magazine, as president, so I wrote two poems. Maybe I'll post them later if you guys are interested.

Well, I shall leave you all with another short song inspired story I wrote. Actually, I'll post two, because I was having fun with my Beatles playlist (the stories aren't connected). ^^ Remember, these are both unedited. Which do you like better? Try listening to the song to so you can feel the mood it gave me to write these.

inspired by Run For Your Life by the Beatles:
He paced back and forth , adrenaline coursing through his veins. His head was throbbing and his thoughts were racing. He couldn't concentrate, and his heart thumped a steady beat in his chest, sucking all the sound out of the room. He wasn't going to let her get away without an explanation, no way, and with a plan of action he flew through the door and closed it with a slam that reverberated through the walls.

inspired by For No One by the Beatles:
The clouds passed slowly as the two sat underneath the apple tree, both thinking in different directions, only playing a calm exterior. They were both not ones to show and tell, and this small fact seemed to keep breaking them farther and farther apart. She put her dainty hand on his sturdy hand and grasped, showing she was still there, when her thoughts were speeding ahead, looking toward her future without him. He smiled to her, sensing nothing but the present.

PS; Just saw the movie "Kick Ass" last night! Anyone heard of it? Not my typical type of movie, but I really liked it! So hilarious! Very gory though too haha. Definitely see it if you like superhero movies and can stand a LOT of bad language. Oh and you need to find a way to get into the theater if you are under 17, because its rated R in the US. Not sure about other countries.

Sorry guys for not writing in a while or responding to some of the comments, which I loved reading by the way. Glad you all enjoyed the story. :) I will definitely put another one up soon but for now just letting you know how I am feeling and what I am kind of going through - by poetry! (the first line of the poem is also the title) fyi, this is unedited.

My creativity has been sapped out of me by the school and by the media.
Everywhere I look I see people with big ideas and big smiles
And I think, that could have been me
But it couldn't, because I get my thoughts from them
I am inspired by their own innovative inspirations
So nothing will come of me
In school we are pounded on our backs from our parents and counselors and colleges
Take this AP it will get you far
I learn but I am drained through late nights, boring lectures, and miles of homework
So sometimes I don't even have the time or energy to learn
It's just memorize and spit it back out
And through constant criticism and outlines
My creativity is pushed aside
I may listen to music while I work and wish I could write a song like the one already written, but there is no time
And what I hear is all I think.
I don't have time to do the things I enjoy anymore
I'd rather get some sleep than steal away to what was once my love and what once drew my perspiration
Now I sit wide-eyed at the computer at a constantly updating list of people who seem to have time to do everything and then some
The people who still seem to have time to be creative
Upon their mountains of work and sacrifice
And I wonder if I don't sacrifice enough
But when only five hours of sleep leaves me with low test scores and staring into space wishing of a bed
And I still don't have any brainpower left to be creative
I wonder how the hell these people even manage to have the willpower to blink
But I see their art and I see the beautiful messes they create
And through my haze of what wins the bread in the morning
I start to feel like I was in a haze all along
Of course they are better than me, stronger, smarter,
More creative
Their stuff is amazing and looking back mine could never compete
So why do I even try?
And I hear that little parasite called creativity leap out my window
To stir up something amazing for someone else
To feed off the creative juices of someone else
Because there's nothing left to prosper in me
And I sit and stare blankly at my computer screen at the torrent of status updates
And as write this poem all I can think
Is that I am taking time away as I write that I could be doing homework so I could go to bed earlier
And the clock tick tick ticks into the early hours
By the glow of the dazzling computer screen

I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry for not updating like I promised. I have been studying like crazy for SATs. But that’s okay, because no one really noticed I was gone, except for you inquisitive ones who did. So there. Sometimes it is good to just be a little island on the internet. Like a miniscule island full of little palm trees. Yep.

Anyway, besides my weirdness, I would just like to say… I’m not so sure. My life has been rather dull; if you want a replay of my week, here it goes: went to a play, studied, went to a foreign movie, studied, ran 2 miles, scared the crap out of my friend when another person and I ran to her house and she didn’t know, ate teriyaki noodles, studied calculus (derivatives or integrals – what do you like more?), watched YouTube, listened to Black Holes and Revelations by Muse (Starlight is my favorite at the moment!), took a practice SAT, and went to dinner with my family. Ain’t life grand?

So I’ve decided to spice up this blog with a ONE SHOT SHORT SHORT STORY based on A RANDOM SONG FROM ITUNES. That’s right, ladies and gents, this will be written in the duration of the song that comes up on shuffle, and no edits will be given to it, so what you see is the original product. It will be based on the mood of the song plus a bit of how I feel at the moment. Without further ado, presenting:

A short story based on the song Show Me What I’m Looking For by Carolina Liar

The boy looked out the window of the bus, and he felt it start to roll forward slowly, the wheels against the pavement slowly turning. The trees began to fall behind, and he didn’t take his eyes off the scenery around him. But the bus began to gain speed, and it started to pick up. A window was open in front of him at the seat before him, and he could feel a breeze on his face. But he didn’t really consider it; he only stared blankly out the window. He thought he would never be able to smile again. Everything was wrong, everything was gone. All he had was his backpack. The view out the window became a blur of green into brown as the bus raced forward. He looked to the seat across the aisle. No one sat in it. He looked to the driver’s seat up front. It was empty. He watched the dirt outside as he realized he would never see home again.

So, what do you think? Shall I continue this short short story based on a random song thing in my next blog? How was this story, in all its uneditedness? Is it intriguing? Is the writing good? Inquiring minds want to know :)

And with that, back to working on scholarship essays.
Also, a question: What is your favorite food from a culture other than your own?

oh yes, yes I did xD

Wow, February already! I can’t believe the groundhog saw his shadow! But that’s okay, it’s still pretty good weather where I live. I feel so bad for everyone in the northeast of the US, because there is like two feet of snow there. D:

Anyone seen any good new movies lately? I saw Avatar in December, and I want to see it again! But there are so many other movies I wanted to see, and they’ll probably be out of theaters soon. :( I just never have time to get to the movies. This coming huge deadline for yearbook is the biggest student life deadline, which is my section that I’m editor of. I have so much freaking work to do and it is driving me insane. There’s lots of articles to edit for the spreads (two page layouts) and all the photos are due Monday. And I also had to write 4 of my own articles.

It’s not that I don’t like to write articles, or copy as it is known in yearbook. I do; I love to see what I’ve written when the book comes out and have people read it. It’s so interesting to interview people too. It’s just that I am so busy. But I had a record time yesterday – I wrote a copy for the foreign language spread in 35 minutes! And it was pretty good, if I say so myself :) Really interesting story about a girl who is learning Japanese

Oh yeah, my school had our winter INformal yesterday. So, no fancy dresses, just anything you want. I went just for the heck of it, but honestly it wasn’t that great (not like many of them are). Basically it was a study of what teenagers will do at a club/rave/any dance except now they were wearing slutty outfits and glow sticks. It was a big mushpit of grinding and there weren’t even that many people there. The last three songs before I left were the best xD

So my friends and I decided to leave early and walked to the nearest grocery store, where we bought chocolate cake (It was delicious!) So the best parts of the dance were getting ready with my friends (and I got to get my hair straightened! It is pretty dang long so I needed help haha), walking out of the dance with my friends, and laughing with my friends. Basically the dance sucked but everything surrounding it was okay. Friends make the good times. Who else hated their school dances?

Anyone having any breaks from school or any holidays coming up? I get a presidents’ week break next week, so that means SAT studying like crazy. And I will definitely update Exhilaration! I have another project that I will get going (soon, hopefully), so I will let you know more about it when it’s almost finished.

Toodles for now!

So the best parts of the dance were getting ready with my friends (and I got to get my hair straightened!

Sooo *evil little smile* I have a game for you, if you want to play…more like a competition, if you will, that will be spanning the course of my next bunch of blogs. I can’t say how many exactly because that would ruin the fun and mystique.

I am going to be bolding single letters of my blog posts – most likely one single letter clue bolded in each post (But be on the lookout! There could be extras!) that, if combined, spell out a word (or multiple words, hmm?). You will need to collect every letter and put them in order. You will have been given the final clue when you see a bolded “!” (exclamation point) in the last blog that is part of this competition.

That means check back often for new blogs to collect the new clues. When the game is finished and I have given out all the letters and the exclamation point, you will need to send what you spell out to me using my contact form. The winner is the person I receive the final correct answer from. If there are multiple people with the right answer, I will either choose the person who sent in the answer first, or I will randomly select a winner. I will take a screenshot to show that whichever way I choose it is fair.

Sounds like fun right? Oh, and I forgot to mention the most important part – the winner gets an AMAZING SPECTACULAR AWESOME PRIZE OF AWESOME. It’s also a mystery and a secret for now, until someone wins. :D So what are you waiting for? Oh that’s right, my next blog. Stay tuned and keep checking back.

Oh yeah, I’m not going to mention the rules in the rest of my blogs, to raise the stakes, you know? So people can look back to this blog if they want to know how the game works. But you can track when I post blogs by following me on Twitter by clicking here.

Besides this amazing competition of awesome which spanned five paragraphs in my blog *sheesh* I also want to say the answer to my question relating to my blog title relating to Doctor Who was the episode “Blink,” which is actually a really freaky episode and probably not the first one you want to watch to experience Doctor Who. But I will give you a short YouTube clip where you can see that line in action: CLICK HERE. :)

So, I’ve been collecting soda can tabs for a while because the Ronald McDonald House is taking them to raise money. The tabs of soda cans are actually worth more than recycling them with the whole can, so my school’s Key Club wants us to bring them in, and then they will give them to the House. I collected 142. Actually, more, but I’m only turning in these for now. Has anyone else been helping out in their community, or donating money to the aid of Haiti? I donated money by texting “Haiti” to 90999, which is a number from Red Cross.

Hope everyone is having a good January!

Happy New Year!!! Well, four days into the new year. Five for most of you. Six if you read this in a couple days... and so on and so forth.

So, anyone watch a British show called Doctor Who? It's a science fiction show that's been on for a long time' it's the longest-running science-fiction television show. But they took a break in the 1980s I think, and came back in 2005 with new episodes.

So, The Doctor is a Time Lord (an alien that looks like a human) and he has a TARDIS which he can use to travel through space and time. He can also regenerate, so when they get someone new to play him, it actually makes sense with the story. It may sound a bit complicated, but it is amazing! I've gotten completely hooked, like, seriously addicted. And I've gotten my friends hooked too. It just makes me so proud to see them embrace Doctor Who :D

Anyway, The Doctor for the past three seasons has been played by David Tennant, who is an absolutely brilliant actor! But he decided to leave the show, and his last episode was on Saturday! I was so sad! :( Seriously, just watching him as the character makes you feel like he really is the character, and his emotions are your emotions. But he regenerated, and the new guy who plays him, Matt Smith, just feels so different. I have only seen a minute of him as The Doctor before the episode ended (new season in March! But I don't know if that is in the U.S. too D: ) so I don't know what to think. I want to be mad and hate him, but when I first saw David Tennant I didn't know what to think either. So hopefully this new actor is good...?

Yep, so I guess I will either keep my mind open to all possibilities, or shun him and protest with picket signs and toilet paper! *evil laugh* just kidding...sorta... :)

I hope everyone has an amazing new year! New decade, really! Makes me feel like I'm getting older all the time...

Which reminds me, I really should have been doing my history homework. For the past couple hours. Instead I was looking up college stuff. Kind of. I'm such a good student, haha.

PS: the blog title is something The Doctor said in an episode...if you know which one I will give you a virtual cookie ^^

PPSS: What is one tv show/movie/book/actor/singer/band/etc that you are completely addicted to, and why?

UPDATE: I added a new fun/interactive page called create a story so check it out!

I really want to thank Georgina for hosting me - January 1st will be the 1st birthday of Exhilaration! It seems like so long ago I was moving everything over to this site, and I hope I have grown somewhat over the year. Also I would like to thank my Affiliates for sticking by me, and you all for sticking by me, even when I didn't update for weeks -__- I hope everyone has a happy new year and it brings you lots of joy!

So I was going to update sooner last week, but I got to go on a trip with my best friend I've known since I was two years old to Las Vegas, Nevada! It was fun to go over Christmas, and we did so much. Definitely better than last time I was there (which was about maybe 4 years ago - my counselor got our cabin sick at summer camp, right before my family went to Las Vegas. Not fun). On Christmas Eve we went to a beer hall that was exactly like the original in Germany. It was crazy to see people on tables and singing along with the live band. And there was a shot people drank where they had to get paddled by the waitress first. xD Hilarious to watch!

On Christmas Day we went to Dim Sum for brunch (and I tried so much new stuff, like seaweed. Delicious!) and then a movie. FTW! haha It was crazy because my friend and I were eating dinner at the Luxor, and the movie started in 30 minutes, so we hurried eating our food, and then ran all the way to the movie theater (which was three hotels and M&M world away) in just 10 minutes, getting there in time to even see the previews. Great exercise! :D

Through the whole trip we took pictures of my Wandering Bean Sprout plush of StarbitsPets with all the sights to show him travelling, like at the hotels we visited. I'm going to post them in my portfolio ASAP. It really gave us something to do there :) Besides sneaking when no workers were looking and touching the machines in the casinos xD We were sooo rebelious hahaha

Speaking of portfolio, I posted my Jack and Jill - Jill's Story up in the Writing section... I said I would post the story as my next blog, but since I did something interesting and blog-worthy (go to Vegas) I posted it in my portfolio instead. It's pretty short if you don't like reading super mega long stories, so go ahead and check it out? :) Tell me what you think please! I'd love to hear!

So that's probably it for now, folks! I'll try to keep updating my site in places (if you noticed the new page going up in the visitors section...) and I'll add photos to my portfolio, as well as some stock photos. But as for blogging, I'll see you all in 2010!

PS: How are you spending New Year's Eve?

EDIT: Finished my new layout! Finally! xD It's been a while, huh? What do y'all think?

Happy winter to everyone who feels the chill in the air! And happy summer (yes?) to everyone who feels the sun's rays. And happy winter to me, where it neither feels like winter or summer. But it's definitely December, because I am on break! :D

Finally, I have been looking forward to break since Thanksgiving Break, no kidding. And on Friday we had a group test in Calculus, I was seriously forgetting simple things like how to find a tangent line. It was kind of pathetic. But my group got through it somehow, and I think some of our answers were correct :)

Sorry for not updating in a hell of a long time. A lot of stuff going on. NaNoWriMo, if you saw my word count at the end of November, was a success, though my story isn't technically complete yet. I just reached 50,000 words. And I was just extremely stressed through the month of November, got depressed a little bit, but I'm back on my feet :D

As for December, well, I will post some pictures hopefully soon in my portfolio of my winter holiday celebration, and there are still two weeks left, so I hope to update the site quite a bit. But I'm also gonna start my driving lessons online that I have been putting off.

Also, I wrote a pretty short story about Jack and Jill from Jill's POV for a prompt in my creative writing club, and I was wondering if perhaps I should post it up here. Tell me your thoughts, por favor. ^^

So, gotta get back to working on the new layout and listening to music. I have so much music on iTunes and I need to sort out what I should and should not have on my iPod, because I am running out of room! Eep!

What's your favorite song of the moment?

Anyone care how I'm doing with my novel? Anyone wake up in the middle of the night, thinking "OH MY GOSH! I just have to know how many words Alex has written for her novel!" Well, never fear! This will solve all your problems. It is updated whenever I enter my new word count on the NaNoWriMo website. The goal is to write 1,667 words a day, which in 30 days gets you to 50,000 words. I should be at over 11,000 words right now, but as you can see, I am not. That is kind of a problem.

What happened was that I started on my story at 12:30 AM November 1st. I used one of the plots I had listed on this blog. But it just didn't fit right. I started it out, but even though I liked the plot idea as a whole, I just couldn't get into the groove of writing it. That was the first idea I gave you guys. And I decided that numbers 2 and 3 were too difficult for a month. So I had number 4 left. But what happened? Well, it was going to end with a death, but I just could not figure out why Lacey Gray wanted to kill herself. After thinking about her, I realized there was more of a reason for her to want to be alive. It seemed more like her character.

So after going the Renaissance Faire with my friend who moved away but came back to visit for the weekend (Halloween and Renaissance Faire! Booyah!) I was inspired. By trees. So that is how my new story began. Right now I kind of know my plot, but not exactly. Exciting! *slaps self*

So, why am I behind on word count? Because I took my SAT today and have been studying. Scores don't come in for three weeks, but hopefully I did well!

So how was your Halloween? I dressed up as - well, as..hmm... what would you call putting a pink fuzzy top hat on your head? I said I was the Mad Hatter. I also had a pair of glasses that said "COOL" and the O's were where my eye's saw out of...from a spirit day...so yeah. But I trick-or-treated for UNICEF, a charity raising money for children, and got quite a bit, so hopefully that makes up for it. And yes, I did decide on that hat about a minute before going out the door to my neighborhood's Halloween Potluck. But I did need another time to wear it, so that worked :)

So that's my life right now. How is yours? Do you have any amazing pairs of socks?

I have some that I got as a birthday present last year, but they are amazing. Betsey Johnson socks...I didn't even know they made socks, but their dresses are so expensive I feel honored to have socks from there.

Peace!

But it just didn’t fit right. I started it out, but even though I liked the plot idea as a whole, I just couldn’t get into the groove of writing it.

Scores don’t come in for three weeks, but hopefully I did well!

So how was your Halloween? I dressed up as—well, as..hmm… what would you call putting a pink fuzzy top hat on your head? I said I was the Mad Hatter. I also had a pair of glasses that said “COOL” and the O’s were where my eye’s saw out of…from a spirit day…so yeah. But I trick-or-treated for UNICEF, a charity raising money for children, and got quite a bit, so hopefully that makes up for it. And yes, I did decide on that hat about a minute before going out the door to my neighborhood’s Halloween Potluck. But I did need another time to wear it, so that worked

So that’s my life right now. How is yours? Do you have any amazing pairs of socks?

I have some that I got as a birthday present last year, but they are amazing. Betsey Johnson socks…I didn’t even know they made socks, but their dresses are so expensive I feel honored to have socks from there.

Peace!

between a plot and a hard place

Thanks for the love homies. *peace sign*

Okay, scrap that. That was my one second of failing at being gangsta (I also failed just now by writing it as "gangsta") but that's okay! I just wanted to say thanks for the sweet comments. I'm feeling a bit better now. I mean, it's better just to get on with life, right? No one needs extra baggage.

Oooh! :D I just had a brilliant idea! I've been having trouble with my plot for NaNoWriMo, see. I thought of one, but I've been rethinking things lately. So now I want to write something else, MAYBE. So I have been looking over plot ideas. They are all EXTREMELY different genres. I have four I am choosing from and I wanted to know what you all think:

It's a science fiction plot that takes place in the very distant future in a society with a really controlling government that turns people into monsters that can do the dirty work to get rid of rebels and the like. But the people are only monsters when the government wants them to be, so other times they are normal people who have no idea what is happening. But a girl named Rachel who gets turned into one of these monsters because of the government's problems with her father accidentally finds out what she's become... (PS: there is some romance involved)

A supernatural ghost story where a woman around 100 or so years ago was going to run away with her lover. But something went wrong in her plans and she ended up dying. She decided to haunt her old house as a ghost, unfulfilled in life, waiting for her lover to return. 100 years later, the house is the oldest in the city, and is a tourist attraction due to "ghost sitings." A touring group comes by one day and the ghost woman sees...her lover returned! Or wait, it just looks like her lover, when actually he is a man who knows nothing about her. But she doesn't know that, and she wants him back...

I got the idea from the song "One Of Us" by Joan Osborne It would be a story through God's eyes roaming the Earth looking like a regular human being and seeing how everything created is doing and how humans are doing. God made the world, and left it on its own until now...

A 16 yr old girl (let's call her Beth)'s best friend moves away at the beginning of the summer and a new strange girl moves in. They have a VERY rocky start, but after the new girl (Lacey Gray) finds the diary of Beth and blackmails her with it, Beth can't do anything but comply with Lacey Gray's demands: hang out with her and do all the crazy things on her list. The year goes by (I could probably work in a lot of dare for the crazy things) and in the end, the two become friends. But it turns out Lacey Gray's list is titled To Do Before I Die...

So, any favorites or some that jump out at you? And comments on them, or why you like or don't like them? Feel like you've seen something like one of them before? Please let me know! It would be a huge help :D

Also, this weekend was Homecoming weekend at my school. Sadly, we lost our football game by 14 points. It was pretty disappointing. But the dance was good. The theme was circus and they had free funnel cake and smoothies for the first 250 people (I was one of them!) and a guy on stilts walking around. The music was better than past dances too, though they played an unusually large amount of slowish, boring-to-dance-to songs in the beginning. But it was fun when a huge group of us made a dance circle and random people started jumping in who we didn't know ^^

I hope you all had a fun weekend!

PS: don't you just love my word play in the title. *fails some more*

50,000 words in 30 days, anyone?

November is almost here! Phew! Do you know what that means?

It's almost National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo.

The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in thirty days - November 1st to 30th. I did it last year - it was an amazing experience. It was also crazy, because 50,000 words is a scary amount. But I did succeed, I am proud to say. And I think I'm a little bit of a better writer because of it.

If you want to take on the challenge, you totally should! Let me know if you sign up, because we could totally become friends on the site and I can help encourage you from giving up :)

So yep. Also, I've been feeling down for the past week or two. Not just sick (which I am, but everyone is. I mean, I think someone threw up during my calculus test on Friday), but also sad. :squint: I wrote a song about it today, so if you care at all, feel free to read it. I'll put the link up on here in a bit. EDIT: Here is the link - ta da

In other news, what is everyone dressing up for on Halloween? And if you don't celebrate Halloween, if you went to a costume party what would you be?

Sorry it's been so looong! I've just been so freaking busy it's crazy! And now that I'm 16 (my birthday is today) life is getting even more hectic. It's my second to last year in high school, so I have some pretty hard classes. I actually should be studying right now, but ah well..

So how is everyone's autumn starting out? Today was the first day of fall, my birthday, and the International Day of Peace! So much to celebrate XD I'm just sad I forgot that last Friday was "talk like a pirate day" Haha!

Hmm, a snapshot of my life: Today I was feeling kinda down, but I walked into homeroom and my homeroom buddy gave me a hilarious card that read "I was going to have a sexy woman jump out of your cake, but I didn't want to get frosting in my hair." Then my friend wrote "BEST CARD EVER." That made me crack up. So it really is like the little things that matter! :)

Oh yeah, have any of ya heard of Marie Digby? Her new album came out earlier this month and I was sooooo super excited! I'd been waiting for it since around May, when it was originally gonna come out, and then July, and finally it did come out I think September 15th! Really great lyrics in her songs! The only sad thing is one of my favorites of her new songs is only sold in the CD in Japan, I believe. Also as album only here in the US. But I already bought the album :O Ah well.

So anyway, Toodles! I hope to update more when I have time :D

I'm so sorry I haven't blogged in two weeks! But I have a perfectly reasonable explanation! So, the camp I was volunteering at ended two Fridays ago. The day after camp ended, I got sick with a 102 degree Farenheit fever. AG! D: It was not fun, and then I had to go to the doctor's and it turned out I had that sickness goin' round the world, so I couldn't really do anything. I may have gotten it at camp, or my dad says that working at camp may have worn me out. Either way, I'm extremely sorry I haven't kept updates or responded to comments.

Oh yeah, so I was asking in my last blog what I should wear as my costume for the Back to the Future day, right? Well, I ended up dressing up as .... *drumroll* a pirate! Pirates are past right? Exactly! I even had a stick-on mustach! :D It was absolutely amazing. And I gave the kids little gold coins *wink wink* as lucky pirate's treasure if they were good. It was a fun day.

So, I really do wish I could respond to comments right now, but ACK I am so busy. This weekend I have yearbook camp (it's like a bonding thing for the yearbook staff) so I can't reply right now. I actually should be getting some sleep so I don't pass out tomorrow xD But when I come back I'll have some new updates and some interactive blogging to do!

Have a great weekend y'all!

Huzzah! I finally got all the coding right on the layout! I'm really happy with this layout, probably more than my last one (man, was I tired of it xD ) so I'm excited. The top header image is actually a bunch of cut out images of keys from a type writer that I saw at a fair. And the word "exhilaration" was what I actually typed using the typewriter. Pretty spiffy, huh? Haha

So, I've also done a good amount of updating to my site. I added some new games to my Babysitting Tips page, so you can try them out next time you go to babysit, if you'd like. I also updated the Web Materials page with some updated, new, and *pop* signs that you can use. I hope you enjoy them ^^ Oh, and I updated affiliate links (finally) for both Rachel and Vi, who moved to new URLs...I'm not sure how long ago, but at least I got around to it :D

Well, my time as a camp counselor ends this coming Friday. I only worked one three-week session. I'll go back to visit and help a couple times later in the summer, but this is it for now. What I'm excited for is Back to the Future Day on Thursday! :) Everyone dresses up either from the past (ex: 50's, 70's, cavemen) or from what they think the future looks like. But I don't know what my costume should be! :squint: Any suggestions? It has to be something cool, but still not too elaborate that I can't wear it to an outdoor-woodsy camp.

So that's all for now, folks!

GOOD: Softball game with just the staff from camp after camp ended. I actually hit the ball twice! hahaha

BAD: My dad and I found a really awesome recipe for a pie in a gourmet cooking magazine and bought all the ingredients, and he made it. It was kind of like a cool cream pie (not sure what it's called) but when we took it out to eat it wasn't finished entirely and basically I had a fruity soup. :P

QUESTION: What should my costume be for Back to the Future Day?
